Therapeutic Storywriting Groups
I am an accredited Therapeutic Storywriting practitioner and trainer, and regularly deliver training to professionals on using this approach within schools and settings.
Therapeutic Storywriting is a structured group intervention designed to support children and young people with social and emotional needs. It combines storytelling, creativity, and psychological understanding to help children explore and express their experiences in a safe and supportive way.
Alongside training, I also provide ongoing supervision for staff delivering Therapeutic Storywriting, as well as delivering the intervention directly with children and young people.
Training for schools and professionals
As an accredited Therapeutic Storywriting trainer, I deliver the three-day training programme for school staff and other professionals wishing to establish Therapeutic Storywriting Groups within their settings.
The intervention is typically delivered over 10 weekly sessions with a small group of approximately six pupils, and is generally suitable for children aged 7–13 years, while also being appropriate for some older young people depending upon developmental needs.
Training may be particularly relevant for SENDCOs, teachers, HLTAs/TAs, ELSAs, inclusion and pastoral staff, counsellors and other professionals supporting children's social and emotional wellbeing.
